Puijo Chamber Choir.
Puijon kamarikuoro is the chamber choir of the Parish of Puijo, in the dioceses of
Kuopio, Finland. It consists of 28 amateur singers of many different professional
The choir was founded in 1989 by the principal cantor of the parish, Jorma Hannikainen, who conducted it
until the summer of 2007. The choir sings regularly at services in the parish, performing a wide variety of church music.
It has given performances of works by J. S. Bach, Britten, Charpentier, Duruflé, Handel, Mozart, Mäntyjärvi, Rossini,
Rutter and Vierne among many others.
It has also performed as part of an ecumenical choir with the Orthodox Chamber Choir of
Finland. In addition to performing in Finland, the choir has given concerts in Italy, Germany, Hungary and Ireland.
The leader of The Puijo Chamber Choir Ms Outi Keskisipilä graduated from the Kuopio Church Music Department of the Sibelius Academy, Finland, with a Master’s degree in Music in 2004, and with a Master’s degree in Organ Performance in 2007.
Keskisipilä currently works as the
principal cantor of Puijo Parish, and as a teacher of the organ in the Kuopio Department of the Sibelius Academy.
